A Wrist Gone Wrong

Its been almost 4 months since I initially injured my wrist.  The first few weeks involved resting, compression, elevation and several (somewhat painful) injections of cortisone in to various places.  It was not fun as I ended up with every possible minor reaction to the shots possible, and they lasted for several days.  But in the end they helped, or so I thought.  It was 2 months later and I had my first real house project that involved painting walls again (the kitchen).  About 1 wall into it my arm was aching, it just hurt, my wrist was swollen, it was definitely no fun!  So basically the meds had worn off and absolutely nothing was fixed.  It hurt, but no more than before and wasn't getting any worse for the time being.  Fast forward 2 weeks and in starts the not being able to move my wrist freely, pain in the pinky and ring finger and constant aching and pain :-(!  I went back to the doctor who told me to start over again with the bracing full time and gave me another full dose of cortisone, although only on the one side of my wrist this time.  Now we are coming to the end of week one and the improvement is non-existent.  My hand still hurts constantly, its weaker than ever and I have even more limited motion.  Now I am suppose to wait until August to call her back and let her know how its going, but at this point I am ready to call today, the pain is ridiculous!
So I have been doing what any good patient who thinks their doctor needs to google more does, I google my problem.  Turns out it could be a problem with my shoulder, which I actually already knew but didn't know what to do about it.  So I am going to pursue some of these other ideas to help it along to either prove or disprove my theory that my shoulder is the one gone wrong.
Do you always believe your doctor or do you become apart of the diagnosing with google as well?
